Surface inspection equipment is essential for verifying the quality, finish and dimensional characteristics of mechanical components and materials used in industrial manufacturing processes. Among the most commonly used instruments for surface quality control are portable digital roughness testers, designed to measure key parameters such as Ra, Rz, Rq and Rt, which indicate the surface finish of a component. Their operation is based on a precision probe that moves along the surface of the part and detects micro-irregularities generated by machining processes such as turning, milling or grinding. To verify the thickness of materials, ultrasonic thickness gauges are widely used. These instruments use ultrasonic waves to determine the thickness of a material without damaging it. This non-destructive testing technology allows the measurement of the thickness of metal walls, pipes, sheets or structural components even when access is available from only one side of the part. Such instruments are widely used to detect wear, corrosion or material thinning, as well as for production checks and industrial maintenance.

When it is necessary to measure the thickness of surface treatments such as paints, galvanizing, chrome plating, anodizing or protective coatings, coating thickness gauges are used. These instruments quickly and non-destructively determine the thickness of coatings applied to ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates, enabling effective control of painting, galvanizing and anti-corrosion protection processes. Monitoring coating thickness is particularly important in industries such as automotive, metallurgy, shipbuilding and industrial painting, where the correct application of surface treatments directly affects the durability and resistance of components.

For high-precision checks of surface geometry and flatness, reference tools such as granite or diabase surface plates, straightedges and precision knife-edge straightedges are used. A granite surface plate provides a perfectly flat reference base on which components and measuring instruments can be placed to check flatness, parallelism and alignment of mechanical parts. Straightedges and knife-edge rules allow the verification of straightness and flatness of machined surfaces, helping to detect possible deformations or misalignments that could compromise the proper functioning of a mechanical assembly.

In addition to these instruments, digital measuring scales, marking gauges, pneumatic bases, roughness tester stands, support tables for surface plates and replacement probes are also available. These accessories improve measurement stability, facilitate marking operations and ensure more accurate dimensional checks during inspection and testing procedures.

These instruments are widely used in industrial quality control, precision engineering, automotive manufacturing, machine tool construction, metal fabrication, surface treatment processes, industrial painting, industrial maintenance and metrology laboratories. They are used both for in-process inspection and for incoming or final inspection of components, helping detect surface defects, non-conforming thicknesses or geometric deviations before parts are assembled or put into service.
