Double sided limit snap gauges are measuring instruments used to quickly check external diameters or polygonal surfaces. They are made of high-quality tempered steel and have a "C" shape on both outer sides. As they consist of two "C"s on the outer sides, the surfaces are ground with the measurement of the diameter or thickness to be checked: on one side to the minimum tolerance and on the other side to the maximum tolerance. To quickly identify the "no-go" side of the Double sided limit snap gauge, the gauge cavity is colored red, corresponding to the minimum tolerance value. During use, the gauge is pushed towards the diameter of the shaft to be checked, verifying that it freely enters the "C" cavity. Subsequently, the same operation is performed for the opposite side, but in this case, the gauge should not reach the "C" cavity. These gauges are ideal for quick control of diameters or thicknesses, which can also be performed during production times.
Double sided limit snap gauges are also used for another important application: checking the taper or circularity of a shaft or profile at various points. In the event of taper or excessive ovalization, the caliper penetrates the shaft only up to a certain partial length, or through the rotation of the shaft, errors in the circular shape of the piece can be detected. With the same control method technology, Double sided limit snap gauges are also available for dimensional control of holes or recesses.
