MACAN nuts are sealing nuts for use on machine tools performing very difficult chip removal operations with the use of ER collets. Made from aerospace-grade material, they are used for machining castings of steel alloys, light alloys, titanium alloys, stainless steels, and chromium-nickel-cobalt-titanium alloys. The main use of this nut is to control the chip during the removal process performed by the machine tool to generate a profile. The technological solutions adopted by this nut prevent tool breakage due to chips, increase tool life, and in many cases, allow optimization and implementation of cutting parameters, ensuring a quick return on investment. The nut allows the coolant to exit through the holes in the front part as well as through the holes inside the tool, and it has holes on a flange to create lateral coolant jets on the external cutting edges. The uniqueness of this nut lies in the fact that the flange is free to rotate independently of the spindle and nut components. This innovation allows the external jets to rotate the flange like a turbine, with the rotation speed adjustable according to the needs and the coolant pressure entering the nut. The adjustable rotation of the flange can generate a cooling ring and completely envelop the tool. The perfect coolant adherence protects the tool's cutting edges during machining, removes chips from the cutting edge area, and ensures excellent cooling of the workpiece and tool.
The perfect construction of the nut, with the absence of milling for the collet clamping, and the free flange, allows the nut to be well balanced and increases the cutting speed and high spindle speeds during machining.
