PCE-RAM 7 radioactivity meter with Geiger-Müller counter tube for beta, gamma and X-ray radiation, 0…9999 µSv/h range, 0.01 µSv/h resolution, µSv/h, CPS and CPM display, 80 CPM/µSv sensitivity for Co-60, TFT display, adjustable acoustic alarm and USB charging with lithium battery. Ideal for environmental checks, safety, emergency response, laboratories, metal recycling, ports, airports and material monitoring.

The PCE-RAM 7 radioactivity meter is a portable detector designed to measure and monitor beta, gamma and X-ray radiation quickly and practically. It uses an energy-compensated Geiger-Müller counter tube that detects pulses generated when radiation passes through the tube and converts them into counts displayed in the selected mode. It is suitable for environmental checks, safety tasks, emergency response, material inspection, monitoring of potentially contaminated areas and radiological surveillance in technical and industrial environments.

The device has a measuring range from 0 to 9999 µSv/h with 0.01 µSv/h resolution, as well as CPS and CPM display. This allows the operator to choose the most suitable mode for the inspection: µSv/h for equivalent dose rate evaluation, CPS for counts per second and CPM for counts per minute. The stated sensitivity is 80 CPM/µSv for Co-60, making the instrument useful for detecting small changes in radiation levels.

The PCE-RAM 7 is designed to detect beta, gamma and X-ray radiation in an energy range from 20 keV to 3.0 MeV. Real-time error is specified as ≤3%, making it suitable for rapid checks and operational monitoring. Since radioactivity has a statistical and time-variable behaviour, the manual notes that averaging the reading over a longer time interval provides a more precise and representative value.

The 1.8” colour TFT display shows measured values, date, time, operating status and the main information during inspection. The device allows values to be displayed in different units and includes an adjustable acoustic alarm, useful for warning the operator when the radiation level exceeds the set threshold. The display mode can be adjusted to improve readability under different lighting conditions.

The ergonomic handle and portable structure allow one-handed use during field inspections, material checks or measurements in operating environments. The compact format is useful when the operator needs to move between different measuring points, check surfaces, containers, goods, scrap metal, storage areas, technical rooms or workplaces where a preliminary radiological check may be required.

Typical applications include safety organisations, police forces, fire brigades, emergency response teams, environmental protection authorities, hazardous material management, metal recycling companies, mines, ports, airports, laboratories, hospitals, research institutes and universities. The device can also be used for environmental checks in homes, food, water or materials when possible contamination or abnormal increases in radiation levels must be investigated.

The instrument is powered by a 3.7 V lithium battery and charged via 5 V USB. The stated charging time is approximately 1–2 hours, making the device practical for mobile use and repeated inspections. With a weight of 416 g and dimensions of 187 x 92 x 60 mm, it is easy to handle and transport in the included service bag.

In practical use, the device should be kept stable, several readings should be taken or monitoring should be carried out over an appropriate time interval, and values should be compared with the operational thresholds defined by the internal procedure. If values are abnormal or increasing, the adjustable acoustic alarm helps draw the operator’s attention and supports faster response.

The PCE-RAM 7 radioactivity meter is therefore a portable solution for monitoring beta, gamma and X-ray radiation in safety, environmental, industrial, research and material inspection applications. The combination of Geiger-Müller tube, 0…9999 µSv/h range, 0.01 µSv/h resolution, µSv/h, CPS and CPM units, TFT display, acoustic alarm, USB charging and ergonomic handle makes it suitable for technicians and operators requiring fast and reliable radiological checks.
