The PCE-428 sound level meter is an ideal measuring instrument for performing measurements in workplaces, construction sites, traffic areas, airports, and many other environments. Classified as Class 2, it comes with a built-in octave band filter. Alternatively, the PCE-428 can be equipped with a third-octave filter. Results can be displayed both numerically and graphically. The sound level meter offers various frequency weightings: A, B, C, and Z, and temporal weightings such as Fast, Slow, Impulse, and Leq. The measurement range spans from 25 to 136 dBA, with a frequency range from 20 Hz to 12.5 kHz. Up to 3 measurement profiles can be set, allowing the operator to select the desired parameters, such as Laeq, LcPeak, LaFmax, LaFMin, etc.

The "Peak-Hold" function allows the determination of the peak value during extended measurements and retains it on the display. A 24 Bit AD transducer and advanced electronics reduce the device's noise to a very low level. The signal sampling rate above 48 kHz ensures high accuracy and improved stability of the sound level meter's measurements.

The calibration frequency used by the acoustic calibrator is 1000 Hz with a sine wave. Compared to other calibrators, the PCE-SC 43 offers three different reference levels: 94 dB, 104 dB, and 114 dB, which can be adjusted simply by pressing a button. The calibrator, unlike other devices, provides an additional reference level of 104 dB and operates with an accuracy of 10.4 dB. This allows precise checking and adjustment of sound level meters. A UNI EN ISO 9001 certification can be requested as an option.

The calibrator is powered by 2 x 1.5V AA batteries, ensuring a battery life of approximately 50 hours. The automatic power-off function turns off the device after 20 minutes of inactivity.
