The HOLZSTAR ADH 3050 combined surface and thickness planer is a compact woodworking machine designed to combine surface planing and thickness planing in a single unit. It is suitable for woodworking shops, craft workshops, training centres and wood shops that need to prepare boards, strips, mouldings and rough workpieces with flat surfaces, straight edges and uniform thickness.

The surface planing function allows one face of the workpiece to be flattened and straight edges to be prepared for angular joints and precise fitting. The planing fence adjustment range from 90° to 45° allows different angles to be processed, useful for preparing bevelled edges, profiles, frames, structural elements and components intended for assembly. The milled cast aluminium dressing table supports stable workpiece guidance and precision during manual feed.

The thicknessing function brings the material to the required dimension, processing workpieces from 6 to 160 mm in height. Automatic workpiece feed at 8.5 m/min helps guide the material through the planing unit evenly and reduces operator effort. The rubberized extraction roller protects the wood surface when planing thicker workpieces, helping reduce marks and pressure damage on the machined surface.

The cutting unit is equipped with a 62 mm shaft and 2 planing knives, running at 6,700 rpm. This configuration provides good material removal and a finish suitable for preparing wood before gluing, assembly, sanding or further machining. Maximum cutting depth in thicknessing is 2 mm, while surface planing allows up to 3 mm chip removal, making it possible to correct unevenness, slight twist and height differences on the workpiece.

The height of the planing table is adjusted simply and precisely by handwheel and graduated scale. This allows the operator to set the working dimension accurately and control the final thickness progressively. For uniform results, it is advisable to work with gradual passes, especially on hardwood, wide workpieces or materials with irregular grain.

The extraction system integrated in the substructure provides cleaner chip management during operation. The machine has a 75 mm suction hood connection and a 100 mm connection for an extraction unit, with suction hose and chip collection bag supplied as standard. Correct extraction is important to keep the working area clean, improve visibility, reduce chip build-up and support smoother workpiece feed.

The compact, space-saving design makes the HOLZSTAR ADH 3050 suitable for workshops with limited space. The standard chassis makes it easier to move the machine around the workshop, allowing space to be freed when the machine is not in use or allowing it to be positioned according to the length of the workpieces. The 93 kg weight contributes to operating stability during planing.

In practical use, before machining it is important to check that the workpiece is free from nails, screws, abrasive dirt or foreign bodies that could damage the knives. The material should be properly supported, guided with smooth feed and worked in the most suitable direction relative to the grain. When thickness planing, it is advisable to start slightly above the final dimension and reach the required size through several controlled passes.
