The SCGCL ISO cartridges are designed for internal turning, boring, finishing and semi-finishing operations on CNC lathes, conventional lathes and modular tooling systems where a left-hand configuration with CCMT 1204 inserts is required. The 90° tool angle allows internal diameters, walls, bottoms, shoulders and perpendicular surfaces to be machined with good profile control and dimensional accuracy. The insert seat provides defined and repeatable CCMT positioning, making cutting-edge replacement easier and reducing machine downtime.
The SCGCL configuration is suitable for internal operations where feed direction, workpiece accessibility or turret layout require a left-hand cartridge. The main difference compared with SCGCR versions is the tool orientation and working direction: SCGCL cartridges allow mirrored or opposite machining operations while maintaining the same 90° insert angle and compatibility with CCMT 1204 inserts. This makes them useful for boring, internal turning, machining close to shoulders, internal passes and surfaces where walls and bottoms must be controlled from the correct working side.
The CCMT 1204 insert, with its positive rhombic geometry, supports smooth and controlled cutting action, helping reduce cutting forces and improve surface finish. The selected insert grade allows the cartridge to be adapted to steels, stainless steels, cast irons, light alloys and technical materials. The 90° angle is especially useful when defined internal shoulders, regular cylindrical surfaces, internal faces and perpendicular geometries are required, reducing form errors and improving process repeatability.
The correct cartridge must be selected according to the minimum machinable diameter, body section, useful length, available internal space, system rigidity and working direction required by the machine.
For reliable performance, rigid clamping must be used, with correct tightening of both cartridge and insert. Alignment with the machining axis should be checked and tool overhang should be kept as short as possible. Incorrect mounting can generate vibration, deflection, irregular insert wear, poor surface finish and loss of geometric accuracy. These ISO cartridges are suitable for mechanical workshops, CNC departments, toolrooms, industrial maintenance, automotive applications and precision metalworking where reliable modular solutions are required for internal turning and boring with widely available ISO inserts.
