Clamping Collets are of different types and for different applications and are mainly used on machine tools for clamping finished parts, bars, special tools. These Collets are mainly divided into 3 groups:

Threads collets have a thread at the back of the taper, which can be either an external or internal thread. The thread serves to clamp the collet to the clamping rod or a sleeve, which through its axial sliding determines the opening or closing of the collet. In the case of counter spindles, multi-spindle or CNC lathe chucks, the threaded tie rod or sleeve can often be fixed, while the entire outer part on which the taper is located, by performing an axial movement, determines the closing and opening of the collet.

Compression collets have no thread for mounting. They are mounted inside the chuck via an external ring nut on the chuck nose. The axial movement that performs the closing of the collet is usually performed with a sleeve or tube.

The bayonet-mounted collet is a specific product made by machine tool manufacturers to be extremely flexible in assembly and disassembly for tool changes or to perform scheduled maintenance for cleaning and removing swarf that may be deposited inside the collet, creating dents on workpieces, difficulty in opening and closing the collet due to clogged swarf inside the spindle. The operation of this collet uses the same operating technology for closing and opening with a threaded connection. The fields of use of collets are manifold and are used for: Clamping bars, clamping workpieces for workpiece gripping and restart machining on lathes. Collets can also be used for assembling assemblies of components, use of fixtures for clamping resuming shafts on CNC machining centres and milling machines, use of angle dividers on conventional milling machines, collets for dividers on sharpening machines for making, sharpening straight, helical profile drills.

Tadaah clamping collets and workpiece clamps are characterised by their effective clamping and the ability to tighten the bar or workpiece without damaging it, thanks to the execution of a Tadaah profile that makes maximum use of the collet's elastic deformation. This method allows for uniform clamping along the entire surface of the bar without generating external indentations. Furthermore, if the bar is turned externally, the clamping force can be further increased by using a different shape of the collet section.

Another advantage of Tadaah collets is the possibility of using HM-coated collets with the Tadaah profile, which allows the clamping force to be increased by up to 30 per cent over the standard load. This HM coating reduces the risk of chips in the clamping band of the gripper, guaranteeing an optimal result. (see figure)
