The rod is screwed onto the drive cross and, by tightening the nuts, allows the adjustment of the threading depth when using a tap or die on Gildemeister DMG-Mori multi-spindle automatic lathes models AS16, AS20, GS20, GM20, GM20AC.

Operation:
Once the tap or die has been started, the front spindle—due to a speed difference caused by the load present in the electromagnetic clutch—pulls the tool into the workpiece.
When the nuts on the rod make the drive cross oscillate via the sleeve 08.14.005, they actuate the microswitch, which removes power from the electromagnetic clutch for the threading forward run and engages the clutch for the threading return.
At this point, the front spindle—due to the speed difference generated by the clutch—causes the tap or die to retract, exiting from the machined workpiece.
