The 15.12.001 bar guide spring for Ø20–Ø25 mm bars is used to keep the bar stable inside the bar guide tube on Gildemeister multi-spindle automatic lathes AS16, AS20, GS20, GM20, GM20AC. During high-speed rotation, the bar does not always remain perfectly centered because centrifugal force tends to push it outward. If the bar is long, relatively slender or not perfectly straight, it can start to oscillate inside the tube, generating vibration, noise and instability that reduce machining quality.

The 15.12.001 spring is installed inside the bar guide tube and works as an elastic guide. The spring coils support the bar during rotation and, thanks to their elasticity, help keep it more centered and dampen vibrations by absorbing part of the oscillations that would otherwise turn into machine shaking. The Ø20–Ø25 mm range identifies the correct application field: within these diameters the guiding action is effective and controlled, taking into account the maximum allowable bar oscillation as a function of rotational speed and operating conditions.

Incorrect use of the variant, for example using a spring not suitable for the bar diameter or operating conditions, can cause damage/marking on the bar due to abnormal contact, trigger excessive vibrations, create bar feed issues due to irregular sliding or binding, and consequently reduce machining accuracy.
