The PCE-VDL 24I vibration analyser is a compact datalogger designed to record acceleration, vibration and shock on three axes. It is suitable for industrial applications where mechanical and dynamic loads must be monitored, machine behaviour must be checked, shock events during transport must be documented or data must be collected for fault diagnosis, load testing and preventive maintenance. Its compact design allows easy installation even on small surfaces or in hard-to-reach points.

The device measures triaxial acceleration with a ±16 g measuring range, ±0.24 g accuracy and 0.00390625 g resolution. The sampling frequency can reach up to 1600 Hz, allowing fast phenomena such as shocks, impacts, vibration peaks, sudden oscillations and dynamic changes to be recorded, which may not be captured with low-sampling instruments.

The PCE-VDL 24I is particularly useful for checking vibration on motors, pumps, fans, generators, machine tools, automatic systems, mechanical structures and components exposed to stress. It can also be used in transport and logistics to document acceleration and shock affecting goods, packaging, sensitive equipment or components during handling and shipment.

The measured values are stored on a micro-SD card. The memory capacity allows 2.5 million values to be recorded per measurement and up to 3200 million values when using a 32 GB micro-SD card. This makes it possible to perform long measurement campaigns and then analyse vibration trends using the included software. Data can be transferred to a PC via Micro USB connection or by reading the micro-SD card directly with an adapter.

The PC software allows measurements to be configured, the active sensors to be selected, the sampling frequency to be set, recordings to be started or stopped and measurement series to be analysed in table, graph or statistical form. This is useful for identifying peaks, abnormal variations, operating conditions outside normal limits and correlations between acceleration and machine operating time.

The device has dedicated START, STOP and power buttons, as well as status LEDs for logging, alarm, battery charge and USB connection. The integrated 3.7 V / 500 mAh lithium battery is charged via USB, making the instrument practical for mobile measurements and temporary installations. Its compact dimensions of 86.8 x 44.1 x 22.2 mm and weight of about 60 g make it easy to position on the object being monitored.

For reliable vibration and shock measurements, the datalogger should be firmly fixed to the object being measured. The manual states that stable mounting is particularly useful when oscillations, vibrations and shocks are recorded, because the device must be securely attached to the object to ensure accurate readings. Depending on the application, the optional PCE-VDL MNT adapter plate with holes, slots and magnetic rear side can also be used.

Before use, it is advisable to define the mounting point, axis orientation, sampling frequency, recording duration and any alarm threshold. A high frequency is useful for short events and rapid impacts, while lower frequencies may be more suitable for long-term monitoring. After recording, the data can be analysed to evaluate vibration amplitude, identify abnormal peaks and document real operating conditions.

The PCE-VDL 24I vibration analyser is therefore a practical solution for recording and analysing triaxial acceleration in industrial, maintenance and logistics applications. The combination of compact design, 3-axis measurement, sampling up to 1600 Hz, 32 GB micro-SD memory, USB interface and analysis software makes it suitable for machine monitoring, dynamic testing, transport checks and analysis of fast mechanical events.
