METALLKRAFT FSM 3060 is an industrial surface grinder with NC-controlled vertical feed, a 300x600 mm clamping surface, a 355x38x127 mm wheel and a 3.75 kW drive motor. Its approximately 1,700 kg machine weight and adjustable table travel from 5 to 25 m/min make it suitable for accurate grinding of planes, plates, slides, tapered gibs, fixtures and profiled tools in engineering workshops, toolrooms and maintenance departments.

METALLKRAFT 3933060 FSM 3060 is an industrial precision surface grinder with NC-controlled vertical feed, designed for grinding flat surfaces, restoring dimensions and geometries, and producing consistent finishes on metal components, plates, fixtures, machine-tool parts and maintenance items. Its 300x600 mm table clamping surface accommodates medium to large workpieces and both one-off and small-batch work, while the approximately 1,700 kg machine mass provides a substantial foundation for stability during stock removal and finishing passes.

The 3.75 kW output drive motor and 355x38x127 mm grinding wheel suit more demanding cycles than compact surface grinders. Spindle speed is 1,450 rpm and X-axis traverse speed is adjustable from 5 to 25 m/min, allowing longitudinal motion to be matched to material, contact width, wheel and required finish. NC control of the vertical infeed supports repeatable pass management, although achievable tolerance also depends on wheel preparation, thermal equilibrium, workholding rigidity, inspection method and operator experience.

For flat grinding, the workpiece must rest on a clean, burr-free surface with stable datums. On a compatible magnetic chuck, the component should bridge several magnetic poles and its thickness, material and contact area must provide adequate holding force. Thin parts require light cuts and a sequence that limits stress and distortion. Non-magnetic parts, round components, pins, small profiles and workpieces with limited contact area require a precision vice, V-blocks, ground angle plates, clamps or dedicated fixtures. Fixture size and mass and clearance from the wheel and full table travel must always be checked.

When restoring plates, guides, slides and functional surfaces, a datum face is prepared first and the workpiece is then turned or repositioned while preserving consistent references. This method supports control of flatness, parallelism, perpendicularity, thickness and the relationship between surfaces. Measurements should be taken after thermal stabilisation using indicators, micrometers, height gauges, straightedges or equipment suited to the geometry. A uniform spark-out improves finish but does not replace intermediate checks, because a burr or particle beneath the workpiece can be transferred directly to the ground surface.

Dovetail slides, inclined planes and tapered gibs require a correctly sized angular fixture. A sine plate with magnetic surface, a tilting precision vice or a ground angle plate may be used if compatible with the table and permissible load. The angle is set using gauge blocks and the sine relationship and then checked with a dial indicator or suitable measuring system. Dovetails and gibs should be measured across their functional contact zones using calibrated rollers or pins, while allowing any stock needed for scraping, fitting or final adjustment.

Grinding-wheel selection depends on material, hardness, contact area, stock allowance and desired roughness. Aluminium-oxide wheels are normally evaluated for structural and hardened steels, with abrasive, grit, grade and structure matched to the cycle. A coarser, more open wheel promotes removal and reduces loading, whereas a finer grit supports a better finish but needs lighter infeed and regular dressing. The specified wheel size is 355x38x127 mm; every alternative must comply with the permitted dimensions, flange, guarding, peripheral speed and manufacturer instructions.

Sharpening carbide HM tool bits and form tools for single-spindle and multi-spindle automatic lathes generally requires compatible diamond wheels and adjustable fixtures that repeat rake angle, clearance angle and profile position. The machine can grind flat faces and profiles that are achievable with its available movements and a correctly formed wheel. Complex profiles require a suitable dressing system and intermediate checks with templates, profile projectors or equivalent equipment. Grinding or producing stepped and profiled pins likewise requires dedicated rotary or clamping devices selected according to diameter, length, concentricity and required accuracy.

Cooling is essential in long cycles, hardened-steel grinding and carbide-tool work because it limits burning, thermal cracking, distortion and loss of hardness. As a coolant system is not listed among the shown standard equipment, its availability and compatibility should be confirmed when ordering. Where fitted, coolant should continuously reach the wheel-entry point and be kept clean and at the correct concentration. Frequent dressing, correct wheel balancing, suitable passes and moderate infeed further reduce heat and spindle load.

The listed standard equipment comprises a wheel flange, grinding wheel, balancing arbor and service tools. A sine plate, magnetic chuck, vices, V-blocks, rotary devices, special dressing systems and coolant equipment are not shown as standard and must be configured for the application. Before purchase, workpiece dimensions and mass, material, stock allowance, geometric tolerances, roughness, production frequency, inclined or profiled features and workholding method should therefore be assessed. The machine requires 400 V 50 Hz power and an installation area consistent with its approximate dimensions of 2,650x1,550x1,800 mm plus clearance for table travel, loading and maintenance.

FSM 3060 is intended for toolrooms, precision engineering workshops, machine-tool builders and rebuilders, industrial maintenance departments, mould and die shops, automotive manufacturing, small metal-parts production, component manufacturing, fixture construction, tooling and quality control. Typical applications include restoring plates, guides, slides, gibs, reference blocks, jaws and functional surfaces or preparing profiled tools with dedicated fixtures. Tadaah technical support can assist in checking capacity, wheel selection, workholding and accessories so that the machine configuration matches the production cycle and professional requirements.
