GALILEO ISOSCAN HV10 OD High-precision automatic microhardness testers for the determination of Vickers and Knoop hardness of samples
The Isoscan OD series has been designed and developed for measuring small parts and thin materials such as wires, films, and surface treatments. The main feature is the precise measurement of the indentation calculated using a manual optical-digital reading, which, thanks to its LCD display, allows the user to accurately detect the vertices of the diamond indentation left on the sample. It performs measurements in both Vickers and Knoop scales. The 136° diamond pyramid indenter is suitable for all types of metals, regardless of their hardness, and the testing cycle is fully electronic and conforms to ISO 6507-2 and ASTM E384 standards.
The Isoscan series is extremely precise, capable of measuring thin materials, wires, films, and small details on various types of materials, making it applicable in a wide range of industrial and scientific fields. Major users include aerospace companies, where precision in measuring critical components is essential for ensuring performance and safety. The automotive industry, particularly in research and development or quality control departments, also requires such tools to assess the hardness of innovative materials and check the compliance of small components. Electronics is another field where miniaturized parts demand extremely precise equipment to test materials used in circuits, cables, and protective films.
The pharmaceutical and biomedical industries use these tools to monitor the quality of medical devices, packaging films, and advanced materials used in prosthetics and surgical instruments. In the polymer and plastics sector, highly accurate durometers are essential for characterizing flexible or rigid materials used in applications ranging from packaging to furniture. The composite materials sector, often involved in high-performance applications, also demands instruments that can analyze microscopic details with high accuracy. Furthermore, chemical companies and nanotechnology specialists benefit from these measurements in developing new materials and coatings.
Finally, scientific research in university laboratories and specialized institutes represents another key application area, where the need to analyze materials on a microscopic scale or with complex geometries makes precision durometers essential, providing reliable data for advanced experiments.
The Isoscan OD series represents an innovative line of microdurometers and automatic durometers designed to precisely determine the hardness of materials using Vickers and Knoop methods. The indentation readings are manually performed through a high-precision digital micrometric eyepiece with a resolution of 0,01 μm and an LCD display for clear data visualization. The entire testing cycle is fully automated and electronically managed, including load selection via a knob with electronic verification of proper configuration.
The sample platform features manual focus adjustment and a cross table with a travel of 25x25 mm and a resolution of 0.01 mm, improving placement precision. The field of view brightness is manually adjustable, while the load application time is selectable from the keyboard between 1 and 99 seconds. More advanced models offer additional features such as automatic correction for cylindrical and spherical surfaces, statistical calculations of mean, minimum, maximum values, and standard deviations, as well as the generation of graphs and histograms.
This durometer also stands out for its ability to manage test batches with data saving and export through USB and LAN interfaces. Files can be generated in formats compatible with Microsoft Word and Excel. The CN models include further options, such as numerical control of axes and automatic determination of hardness profiles in zig-zag or array formats. All models support automatic software updates via USB.
The Isoscan OD comes equipped with Vickers indenters, sample holders, and two ACCREDIA-certified test blocks for calibration. On-demand ACCREDIA certification is available directly at the customer's location. Thanks to their precision and versatility, these instruments are ideal for use in research laboratories and demanding industrial sectors.
