Differential ring gauges for external taper GAS pipe threads according to DIN 2999, suitable for male fittings, nipples, adapters, valves and pneumatic, hydraulic and fluid power components used in pressure-tight threaded connections. They allow thread position, taper and conformity to be checked reliably. Available from G 1/16" to G 6", they require clean threads, coaxial use and inspection without forcing. The differential ring gauges for taper GAS pipe threads are inspection tools designed to verify the conformity of external tapered threads according to DIN 2999. They are used to check male fittings, nipples, adapters, threaded bodies, valve connections, pneumatic components, hydraulic parts, fluid power elements and mechanical components intended for pressure-tight threaded connections, where correct external thread geometry is essential to ensure compatibility, engagement depth and reliable mating.

The differential configuration allows the thread position to be checked against the specified acceptance limits, verifying that the external thread is not oversized, undersized, deformed, out of tolerance or produced with incorrect taper. In taper GAS pipe threads, inspection is not limited to simple screw-on capability, but also involves the relationship between profile, diameter, taper and engagement depth, all of which directly affect connection performance. A non-conforming tapered thread may cause unstable engagement, excessive or insufficient screw-in depth, clearance, tightening difficulties or sealing problems.

DIN 2999 taper GAS pipe threads are used in connections where sealing performance can be affected by progressive interference between male and female threads, often combined with sealants, tapes or dedicated sealing compounds depending on the application. For this reason, inspection with a differential ring gauge is particularly important in quality control departments, fitting production, industrial maintenance and final inspection of components intended for fluid systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial piping. These gauges must be clearly distinguished from ring gauges for ISO 228 parallel GAS threads, American NPT threads or other inch-based threads, because profile, taper, sealing function and inspection method are not interchangeable.

The correct gauge must be selected according to nominal thread size, DIN 2999 standard, the type of component to be checked and the inspection function required by the technical drawing or inspection cycle. When inspecting taper threads, correct standard identification is especially important because apparently similar pipe threads may have different acceptance criteria.

Upon request, the gauge can be supplied with Accredia certification or, alternatively, with a calibration report. This documentation requires additional delivery time, as the item must be sent to the inspection body or appointed calibration/certification laboratory before final shipment to the customer.

For reliable inspection, the ring gauge must be used on clean external threads, free from chips, burrs, oxides, dirt, coolant residues or visible deformation. During checking, the ring must be screwed on without forcing and with correct alignment to the thread axis, because misaligned or excessive use may affect the inspection result and damage both the gauge and the checked component. These ring gauges are suitable for mechanical workshops, fitting manufacturers, CNC departments, quality control, industrial maintenance, pneumatics, hydraulics, fluid power and plant engineering where external taper GAS pipe threads must be checked simply, quickly and repeatably.
