SCH3953 Limit ring gauge for NPT threads - ANSI/ASME B 1.20.1 - from GAS 1/16"-27 to 8"-8
(Incl. Tax: €490.79)
Differential ring gauges for external American NPT taper pipe threads according to ANSI / ASME B1.20.1. Suitable for male fittings, nipples, adapters, valves and pneumatic, hydraulic and fluid power components with 60° profile and 1:16 taper. They allow thread position, taper and conformity to be checked reliably. Available from G 1/16"-27 to G 8"-8. Accredia certification or a calibration report is available on request, with additional delivery time.
The differential ring gauges for American NPT taper pipe threads are inspection tools designed to verify the conformity of external tapered threads according to ANSI / ASME B1.20.1. They are used to check male fittings, nipples, adapters, threaded bodies, valve connections, manifolds, pneumatic components, hydraulic parts, fluid power elements and mechanical components intended for American-standard threaded connections, where correct external thread geometry is essential for compatibility, engagement depth and reliable mating.
NPT, National Pipe Taper, is an American tapered pipe thread with a 60° profile and 1:16 taper. Unlike parallel GAS threads, NPT connection is achieved through progressive engagement between male and female threads, with sealing supported by thread interference and often completed, depending on the application, with sealants, PTFE tape or dedicated sealing compounds. For this reason, inspection with a differential ring gauge is not limited to simple screw-on capability, but also verifies thread position, taper, profile and engagement depth.
The differential configuration allows the external thread to be checked for oversize, undersize, deformation, out-of-tolerance condition or incorrect taper and depth. A non-conforming NPT thread may cause excessive or insufficient screw-in depth, unstable mating, tightening difficulties, excessive clearance or sealing issues. The differential ring gauge therefore provides a fast and repeatable inspection method for quality control departments, fitting production, final inspection and industrial maintenance.
The correct gauge must be selected according to nominal size, threads per inch, ANSI / ASME B1.20.1 standard and the inspection function required by the technical drawing or inspection cycle.
It is essential to distinguish these NPT ring gauges from gauges for NPTF, BSPT, BSPP, parallel GAS or other inch-based thread standards, because profile, tolerances, inspection method and sealing function are not interchangeable. Threads that appear similar may have different acceptance criteria and require specific inspection tools.
Upon request, the gauge can be supplied with Accredia certification or, alternatively, with a calibration report. This documentation requires additional delivery time, as the item must be sent to the inspection body or appointed calibration/certification laboratory before final shipment.
For reliable inspection, the ring gauge must be used on clean external threads, free from chips, burrs, oxides, dirt, coolant residues or visible deformation. During checking, the ring must be screwed on without forcing and with correct alignment to the thread axis, because misaligned or excessive use may affect the inspection result and damage both the gauge and the inspected component. These ring gauges are suitable for mechanical workshops, fitting manufacturers, CNC departments, quality control, industrial maintenance, pneumatics, hydraulics, fluid power and plant engineering where American NPT taper threads must be checked simply, quickly and repeatably.
