(Incl. Tax: €1,479.13)
The PCE-WSAC 50W 24 wind sensor is a professional system for monitoring wind speed on construction sites, cranes, tents, scaffolding and outdoor installations. It measures from 4 to 180 km/h and features IEEE 802.15.4 ISM 2.4 GHz radio transmission, 4 - 20 mA analogue output, backlit LCD, pre-alarm and main alarm relays, 24 V DC supply and IP65 protection.
The PCE-WSAC 50W 24 wind sensor is a professional system for continuous wind speed monitoring in outdoor applications, construction sites, cranes, tents, scaffolding, temporary structures, towers, industrial areas and unattended stations. It is designed to monitor threshold exceedance and support operational decisions in environments where gusts and strong wind can affect safety, structural stability and work continuity.
The system consists of a wind sensor and a monitor with backlit LCD. The sensor measures wind speed up to 180 km/h, while the monitor receives the signal, displays the values, manages alarms and sends the measurement to external systems via a 4 - 20 mA analogue output. This configuration makes the device suitable for both local monitoring and integration with data loggers, supervision systems, control panels or technical monitoring procedures.
The sensor measuring range is 4 - 180 km/h, with a minimum start speed of 8 km/h. Accuracy is ±1 km/h in the 4 - 15 km/h range and ±3% in the 16 - 180 km/h range. The possibility to work with km/h, mph and m/s units allows the system to be adapted to different technical contexts, company procedures and monitoring standards. Continuous monitoring also allows wind gusts to be checked and action to be taken when the wind exceeds defined safety limits.
One of the main features of the PCE-WSAC 50W 24 is radio transmission. The wireless connection uses IEEE 802.15.4 ISM 2.4 GHz technology and allows a range of up to 750 m outdoors with direct line of sight. This is particularly useful when the sensor must be installed far from the reading point, for example on a crane, high structure, roof, scaffold, technical tent or area that is difficult to access. If the monitor is installed inside a building, the range may be reduced to approximately 60 m.
The monitor supports pulse, 4 - 20 mA analogue or wireless input. The 4 - 20 mA analogue output allows the measured value to be transferred to a data logger or data acquisition system for analysis, recording or remote monitoring. The analogue output has 10-bit resolution and ±1.5% accuracy, with maximum input impedance of 500 Ω. This makes the system suitable for professional applications where wind speed must be documented, archived or used as a process signal.
The system is equipped with alarm relays rated up to 250 V AC / 8 A. Two alarm levels, one for pre-alarm and one for main alarm, allow progressive thresholds to be managed. The pre-alarm can warn the operator when wind speed approaches the operating limit, while the main alarm can be used when the value exceeds the critical threshold. This function is useful for cranes, scaffolding, mobile structures, tents, work at height, outdoor plants and areas where safety procedures must be triggered.
The 128 x 64 pixel backlit LCD provides clear reading of values even under variable lighting conditions. The monitor housing is made of robust plastic and has IP65 protection, suitable for technical environments and exposed installations. Monitor dimensions are 145 x 95 x 125 mm, with an approximate weight of 650 g. The monitor power supply is 24 V DC, compatible with many industrial installations and control systems.
The sensor is designed for outdoor use and has IP65 protection. The housing material is PA + FG, the support is AISI 304 stainless steel and the bearings are X65Cr13 stainless steel, providing durability and resistance under demanding environmental conditions. The sensor is powered by a 1.5 V DC single-cell battery, with energy consumption of approximately 0.3 W. Sensor dimensions are 320 x 110 x 100 mm.
The sensor operating conditions are -20 to +70 °C, while storage temperature is -35 to +70 °C. These values allow use across a wide range of environmental conditions, from winter installations to outdoor summer construction sites exposed to sunlight. Sensor weight is approximately 680 g with fixed support and approximately 900 g with self-levelling support, offering different installation options depending on the available structure and application type.
Main applications include wind monitoring on cranes, mobile cranes, platforms, scaffolding, temporary roofs, tents, inflatable structures, construction sites, work at height, outdoor industrial areas and unattended technical stations. In all these situations, it is important to verify that wind speed does not exceed defined thresholds, because excessive wind can make lifting, handling, assembly work or exposed structures unsafe.
The PCE-WSAC 50W 24 is also useful for preventive safety management. By continuously monitoring wind speed, the site manager or HSE technician can set warning, work suspension or securing procedures before conditions become critical. The system can help reduce operational risks, equipment damage and unplanned interruptions.
For reliable measurements, the sensor should be installed in a position free from obstacles, away from walls, projections, parapets or structures that could deflect airflow. It is important to check support stability, install the sensor correctly and verify radio connection quality between sensor and monitor. In applications with data loggers or supervision systems, correct configuration of the 4 - 20 mA analogue output should also be checked.
The PCE-WSAC 50W 24 wind sensor is therefore a professional solution for measuring, displaying and controlling wind speed remotely. The combination of radio transmission, range up to 180 km/h, 4 - 20 mA analogue output, dual alarm relay, backlit display, IP65 protection and robust construction makes it suitable for construction sites, outdoor installations, industrial safety and technical monitoring in outdoor environments.
