The PCE-PCO 2 thermo-hygrometer can be used in various areas. The device can be used as a thermo-hygrometer and as a mass concentration meter. The thermo-hygrometer is used in environments where suspended particles can be harmful to health. For example, contamination caused by combustion, energy production, vehicle emissions and industrial contamination.

In addition to particle counting, the device determines mass concentration. That is, it can measure PM2.5, PM 10 and particle thicknesses of 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 2.5, 5.0 and 10 µm. The PCE-PCO 2 thermo-hygrometer includes sensors for measuring temperature and humidity. There is a built-in camera on the rear for images and video. Air pollution is particularly high where circulation is greater and the risk of contracting some type of respiratory disease increases.
