The HSK-A shank chucks for ER collets are made of hardened and ground high-grade steel, have an unbalance error of G6.3 and can reach a maximum speed of 15-18,000 rpm of the machine tool spindle. It should be noted that the unbalance force at high spindle speeds must be within 1% of the axial load of the precision bearings mounted in the machine tool spindle for proper operation. The shank HSK-A is used for mounting with automatic tool change on machine tools, especially for machining and milling centres. They have a central coolant flow through a connecting tube. It has a feed groove on the edge of the taper cone and grooves on the flange. It also has a radial bore as it can also be used for manual tool changing and fixing, allowing interchangeability with the 'HSK-C' type.

HSK Tool Holders with Various Taper Sizes for ER Collets with Mini Nut
These tool holders are available with different HSK taper sizes and are designed to accommodate ER collets of various sizes, equipped with a mini nut to reduce overall dimensions. They feature a central coolant through-hole, allowing optimal cooling of the tool and efficient chip evacuation from the cutting edges, making them ideal for internal machining operations. The mini nut design offers a more compact profile compared to standard nuts.
In addition to various HSK taper sizes, these holders can also be selected based on the collet size and overall length.
They are primarily used for their flexibility and cost-effective tool changing, achieved by simply replacing the ER collet, which can clamp a wide range of shank diameters.
This solution allows users to choose the tool holder according to the specific machining operation required. It is common to use a large ER collet when mounting tools such as end mills or drills with cylindrical or Weldon shanks.
In some cases, due to space constraints, a specific holder length is required to avoid collisions with the workpiece during machining.
The wide range of available lengths allows end users to select the proper holder that ensures sufficient rigidity and reduced interference. All holders are balanced to G6.3 and can operate at speeds of up to 18,000 RPM.
