The Nuova PTM CNB/R live centre is designed for turning, centring and finishing operations on conventional lathes, parallel lathes and high-speed turning machines where stable workpiece support is required during rotation. It is a medium-load live centre, suitable for mechanical workshops, production departments, industrial maintenance and precision machining applications.

The CNB/R version is characterized by its reduced head and interchangeable tip system, a practical solution when the live centre must be adapted to different operating conditions, workpiece geometries or support requirements. The possibility of replacing the tip provides greater flexibility compared with fixed-tip live centres, improving wear management and extending the useful operating range of the tool.

The extremely compact and rigid outer body contributes to stability during machining, helping to reduce vibration and improve the surface finish of the workpiece. The internal assembly includes a dedicated system of bearings and thrust bearings mounted in ground seats, designed to provide smooth rotation, accurate support and reliable performance even during extended machining cycles.

The live centre is equipped with the WPS – Water Protection System, developed to reduce the ingress of dust, chips and coolant into the rotating unit. Oil-seal-protected seats and dedicated sealing elements improve the reliability of the component in typical chip-removal machining environments, where coolant, emulsions and metallic residues may affect the service life of the internal components.

Lubrication is internal, permanent and grease-based. During the first working hours, a slight grease leakage is normal and is caused by the settling of the lubrication system. Under correct operating conditions, the live centre does not require frequent routine maintenance; however, periodic inspection or servicing is recommended depending on working intensity, operating conditions and the machining environment.

Nuova PTM CN series live centres are designed to provide a good balance between strength, precision and cost-performance ratio. The indicative service life declared for each model is at least 1200 hours, under suitable operating conditions and correct use. During operation, the live centre may reach temperatures above 60°C, which is normal for this type of component when used at high speeds or in continuous machining cycles.

The Nuova PTM CNB/R live centre is available with a Morse taper selection, allowing it to be matched to different machine configurations.
