Live centres Roehm HM PRO-CARBIDE INSERT, morse taper shank mount MT, with carbide insert, body hardened and ground - Tip angle 60°
(Incl. Tax: €539.73)
Röhm HM Pro live centre with wear-resistant carbide insert, hardened and ground body and 60° tip angle. Designed for workpiece support on turning and grinding machines, it offers high wear resistance, a three-bearing system for high axial and radial loads and concentricity deviation up to 0.005 mm on many versions. Suitable for precision machining of shafts, pins, bushes and metal components.
Röhm HM Pro live centres with carbide insert are precision components designed for counter-clamping and workpiece support during turning and grinding operations. They are suitable for applications where the workpiece must be held stable during rotation, maintaining accurate centring and reducing vibration, deflection and instability that may affect machining quality. The carbide insert on the centre point is a major advantage in continuous and demanding machining operations, as it increases wear resistance in the contact area and helps maintain accuracy over time.
The HM Pro series is a live centre with hardened and ground body, developed to ensure rigidity, durability and reliability in industrial applications. Body hardening improves resistance to stress and wear, while grinding provides accurate fitting, geometric quality and mounting stability. The 60° tip angle is suitable for most operations on cylindrical parts, shafts, pins, bushes, mechanical components and turned parts where correct axial support is essential to maintain concentricity and dimensional repeatability.
One of the key technical features of this category is the wear-resistant carbide insert, especially useful when the live centre works in contact with abrasive materials, hardened parts within the limits of the application, alloy steels or components produced in repetitive cycles. The insert reduces point wear, improves contact continuity and limits loss of accuracy caused by progressive wear. This is important in industrial production where machining stability must be maintained for many operating hours and downtime for maintenance or tool replacement must be reduced.
The internal three-bearing system allows the live centre to withstand high axial and radial loads, ensuring smooth rotation, stability and reliability even under demanding working conditions. The technical charts show the behaviour of the live centre according to radial and axial load, with reference to bearing service life. This makes the HM Pro series suitable for operations where the workpiece requires robust support during both turning and grinding, maintaining the right balance between mechanical strength, precision and smooth running.
The maximum concentricity deviation is 0.005 mm for many versions, a key value in applications requiring high dimensional and geometric accuracy. A live centre with low concentricity deviation helps reduce runout errors, ovality, form defects and dimensional variations on the workpiece. In grinding operations, this parameter becomes even more important because surface quality and final accuracy are directly linked to support stability and alignment with the machine axis.
The technical table shows a range with different sizes and performance levels, suitable for different machines and operating conditions. The versions include mount MT from 2 to 6, with increasing dimensions and progressively higher load capacity. Several models feature max. concentricity deviation 0.005 mm, while the largest version shows max. concentricity deviation 0.01 mm. The maximum speeds vary according to size, from higher speeds for compact versions to lower speeds for larger and higher-capacity versions. This allows technicians to select the most suitable live centre according to workpiece size, rotational speed, expected load, machine type and required precision level.
These live centres are suitable for machine shops, turning departments, grinding departments, industrial maintenance, automotive, aerospace, precision engineering and turned-part production. They are used for machining shafts, pins, bushes, cylindrical components, metal parts and workpieces requiring reliable support during roughing, finishing or grinding. Correct selection of the HM Pro live centre improves process stability, increases point life, reduces maintenance and helps maintain consistent workpiece quality.
Tadaah offers Röhm HM Pro live centres with carbide insert as a technical solution for professionals requiring precision, wear resistance and reliability in industrial machining. The combination of hardened and ground body, 60° tip angle, carbide insert, three-bearing system and high concentricity makes this series suitable for production environments where workpiece support quality directly affects tolerances, surface finish, tooling life and machining continuity.
Usage
To ensure optimal performance, the live center is mounted in the tailstock of the lathe or grinding machine. If the model has a clamping surface, it can be secured with an additional locking for greater stability. The workpiece is then positioned between the chuck and the live center, with the 60° tip fitting into a pre-made conical seat, ensuring stable support.
Once positioned, the machine's tailstock is advanced to apply the correct pressure to the workpiece, ensuring a secure clamping without the risk of deformation. Unlike fixed live centers, the rotating version features internal bearings that allow it to rotate along with the workpiece, reducing friction and wear. This feature is crucial for high-speed machining, such as precision turning and grinding.
During the machining process, the live center helps maintain concentricity and reduce vibrations, improving the surface finish quality. At the end of the process, the pressure is released, and the workpiece is removed. The quality is then checked, and if necessary, the live center is maintained, requiring minimal intervention thanks to its permanent lubrication and sturdy, hardened, and ground structure, ensuring long-lasting durability and consistent precision.
