3932 Plug gauges "GO" for BRITISH standard BSW threads - From 3/16" to 6" - BS 84
(Incl. Tax: €84.72)
GO plug gauges for internal British BSW threads according to BS 84, designed to verify functional thread acceptance on mechanical components, spare parts, equipment and inch-standard machines. The gauge must screw in correctly without forcing, confirming compatibility of the internal Whitworth thread. Available from 1/8" to 6", they require correct size identification, clean threads and coaxial use.
The GO plug gauges for British BSW threads are inspection tools designed to verify the functional acceptance of internal British Standard Whitworth threads according to BS 84. They are used to quickly check whether a threaded hole allows proper engagement with the corresponding male thread, ensuring dimensional compatibility and functional assembly on mechanical components, industrial spare parts, British-standard machinery, equipment, inch-based fastening systems and technical parts with Whitworth threads.
Unlike GO / NO GO gauges, these plug gauges perform the GO function only: they must screw correctly into the internal thread without forcing, confirming that the thread meets the minimum acceptance requirements for assembly. They are therefore suitable when the purpose is to verify component engagement, check thread cleanliness, detect obstacles to screw-in movement and confirm that the internal thread is usable. They do not replace complete inspection with a NO GO side when the upper tolerance limit must also be checked, but they provide a practical solution for functional checks, maintenance, thread restoration and quick workshop inspection.
British Standard Whitworth threads use a 55° profile and are still found in many industrial applications, especially on older machinery, British-origin components, spare parts, equipment, vintage vehicles and mechanical systems with inch-based threads. It is important to correctly distinguish BSW gauges from UNC, UNF, BSP, NPT or metric gauges, because profile, pitch, thread angle and mating compatibility are not interchangeable. Using an incorrect plug gauge may lead to wrong inspection results, thread damage or acceptance of non-conforming parts.
For reliable checking, the GO plug gauge must be used on clean threads, free from chips, burrs, oxides, dirt or machining residues. During inspection, correct coaxial alignment with the threaded hole must be maintained, and the gauge must screw in without being forced, because misaligned or excessive use may damage both the gauge and the inspected component. These plug gauges are suitable for mechanical workshops, quality departments, maintenance technicians, toolrooms, technical restoration, vintage automotive work, mechanical engineering and industrial repair operations where the functional acceptance of internal British BSW threads must be checked simply, quickly and repeatably.
ACCREDIA certification or a calibration report can be supplied on request; because the item must be sent to the inspection or certification body, this documentation may increase delivery time.
