The CNC-Control Unit CU 4 is a control system designed for operating CNC machine tools with up to four axes, ensuring precision, reliability, and compatibility across various configurations. It is intended for use with CNC-ready lathes and milling machines, including PROXXON MF 70/CNC-ready and FF 500/BL-CNC-ready models, as well as universal CNC systems.

The core of the unit consists of four high-performance stepper motor drivers, engineered to deliver consistent torque and precision during complex machining operations. The standard SUB-D 9-pin interface ensures reliable and standardized connectivity.

The CU 4 is not tied to proprietary software, allowing the use of widely available CNC software such as MACH3, MACH4, or Estlcam. Control is managed via a parallel port interface (with optional LPT adapter), providing flexibility and adaptability.

Each axis includes a feedback input, typically used for limit switches or position sensors, enhancing operational safety and process control.

The system features a switching relay for a 230 V outlet (IEC and protective contact socket), enabling direct control of spindles or auxiliary devices up to 2,500 W, ensuring synchronization between CNC control and machine operation.

The housing is made from 1.2 mm powder-coated steel, providing durability and resistance. A grooved rubber mat on top allows safe placement of tools and accessories.

Compact dimensions (330 x 300 x 100 mm), 230 V power supply, and a weight of approximately 4.5 kg ensure easy installation and mobility. Class 1 insulation guarantees electrical safety.
