PCE Instruments PCE-LM 100UV Precise lux meter for professional measurements of UVC intensity and energy, spectral sensitivity between 230 and 280 nm
(Incl. Tax: €1,053.10)
The PCE-LM 100UV UV meter is a professional instrument for checking UVC radiation intensity, energy and dose in disinfection and sterilisation processes. It operates in the 230 - 280 nm spectral range with a peak at 254 nm and features a backlit LCD, internal memory, USB-C interface, PC software for data export and display of real-time, maximum, minimum and average values.
The PCE-LM 100UV UV meter is a professional instrument designed for precise measurement of UVC radiation, especially in disinfection, sterilisation and UV source efficiency control applications. It is suitable for technicians, laboratories, quality departments, maintenance teams and companies that need to verify whether a UVC source emits sufficient intensity and whether the applied energy dose is consistent with the process being checked.
The spectral range of the instrument is 230 nm to 280 nm, with a peak at 254 nm. This range is particularly important because many UVC lamps used for disinfection and sterilisation operate close to this wavelength. Thanks to this spectral response, the PCE-LM 100UV is suitable for checking UV systems used for air, water, surfaces, technical rooms, laboratories, industrial plants and treatment devices.
The instrument measures radiation intensity and accumulated energy, providing the operator with useful data for evaluating UVC exposure. The measuring ranges include 0 - 50 µW/cm² with 0.1 µW/cm² resolution and ±4 µW/cm² accuracy, 50 - 20000 µW/cm² with 0.1 µW/cm² resolution and ±8% of measured value accuracy, and energy measurement from 0 to 9999999 µJ/cm² with 0.1 µJ/cm² resolution. These ranges allow checks on both low-intensity sources and more powerful UV systems.
During operation, the PCE-LM 100UV displays the real-time value and also allows maximum, minimum and average values to be monitored. This function is particularly useful when the source intensity is not perfectly stable, when the trend of the measurement must be monitored over time or when the technician needs to compare different measurement positions within a system or treatment chamber. Displaying the measurement duration and absorbed energy also helps evaluate the total dose received by the sensor.
The professional UV sensor and high-precision UVC filters help reduce interference caused by wavelengths outside the relevant range. This is important in real applications, where mixed light sources, reflections, residual emissions or environmental conditions may affect the reading. A measurement focused on the UVC band provides more consistent data for disinfection, sterilisation and UV treatment control.
The backlit LCD has a 2.16" size and 240 x 160 pixel resolution. The backlight makes the data easier to read in technical rooms, treatment chambers, poorly lit areas or during checks on systems where the operator’s position may not always be convenient. The interface allows practical handling of the main functions and direct reading of measured values on the device.
The internal memory can store 9 data records. This function is useful for repeated tests, checks on several lamps, comparative inspections or measurements taken at different points of the same system. The USB-C interface allows connection to a PC and, with the dedicated software, data can be exported and reports can be created. This makes the instrument suitable for quality control, test protocols, periodic documentation and result archiving.
The PCE-LM 100UV complies with JIG 879-2015 and WS/T 367-2012 standards, which are useful references for technical and healthcare-related UVC radiation applications. The instrument is therefore suitable when the emitted radiation intensity and applied dose need to be verified in a documented way, especially in processes where disinfection must be controlled by measurement and not simply assumed from the presence of a lamp.
Main applications include checking UVC disinfection lamps, sterilisation systems, air treatment systems, water treatment, UV chambers, surface treatment devices, laboratories, medical facilities, the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry and plants where ultraviolet radiation is used as part of a sanitising process. The instrument is also useful for checking lamp ageing, because a UVC source may still switch on while progressively losing irradiance efficiency over time.
For reliable measurements, the sensor should be positioned at the real working distance, correctly oriented towards the UV source and used under consistent measuring conditions when comparing several lamps or points in the system. It is important to remember that UVC radiation can be harmful to skin and eyes; therefore, the instrument must always be used together with suitable safety procedures, protective equipment and operator exposure control.
The device is powered by 5 V DC and uses 2 AA 1.5 V alkaline-manganese batteries. Battery capacity is specified as 2970 mAh. The protection class is IP20, operating conditions are 0 - 40 °C with 0 - 85% RH, and storage conditions are 0 - 50 °C with 0 - 85% RH. The compact 190 x 75 x 30 mm dimensions and approximately 194 g weight make the meter practical to carry and suitable for mobile field checks.
The PCE-LM 100UV is therefore a professional solution for measuring and documenting UVC radiation in a practical, precise and repeatable way. The combination of dedicated sensor, 230 - 280 nm range, 254 nm peak, data memory, USB-C, PC software and display of intensity, energy and measurement duration makes it a useful instrument for maintenance, validation, quality control and monitoring of UV systems in healthcare, industrial and technical applications.
