SCFC ISO cartridges are modular insert seats designed to build special tools and modular heads for internal machining of bores and profiles: drilling, boring, finishing and dedicated internal geometries. The cartridge approach keeps tool geometry consistent and allows fast ISO insert replacement, reducing set-up time and improving repeatability.

The cartridges use ISO CCMT inserts in different sizes. By selecting the right cutting geometry (rake/clearance and chipbreaker) and coating, the tool can be adapted to steels, stainless steels, cast irons, aluminium and other non-ferrous alloys. For finishing, sharper positive geometries are preferred; for roughing, tougher grades and stronger chipbreakers are selected, depending on rigidity and vibration.

The cartridge is equipped with independent axial and radial adjustment. Axial adjustment to the tool is generated by the rear screw, which allows a maximum travel of 3 mm with an easily achievable accuracy of ±0.04 mm. Radial adjustment to the tool is achieved by means of a contrast screw located under the insert seat. By loosening the cartridge fixing screw, this set screw allows for quick radial adjustment of up to 0.3 mm with an accuracy of ±0.02 mm on the diameter.

Hand identification: the last letter defines the hand. With SCFCR, R means right-hand; with SCFCL, L means left-hand. Choose the hand according to feed direction, tool position and machine set-up.

Selection & use tips: always check the minimum bore (Ø min) for internal accessibility; consider overhang (l1) and overall rigidity; set cutting data and coolant strategy according to the selected insert grade.
