The 3D optical edge finder TSCHORN GmbH, model 001032000, is a high-precision measuring instrument designed for three-dimensional probing along the X, Y, and Z axes directly on the machine spindle. It is used for accurate zero point determination and bore center alignment, with a probing accuracy of ≤ 0.010 mm.

Equipped with a shank of Ø20 mm and a probing ball of Ø10 mm, the tool has a total length of approximately 106 mm. Power is supplied by a 12V Type 23A battery. When the probing ball touches a conductive workpiece, the electrical circuit is automatically closed, and a built-in LED lights up, indicating that the edge of the workpiece has been reached. At the moment the LED signal appears, the actual distance to the edge is exactly 5 mm, which corresponds to the radius of the Ø10 mm probing ball.
On the Z axis, the reference length must be measured and taken into account accordingly to ensure precise alignment.

The edge finder is designed with integrated protection against humidity to safeguard the internal electronic components and ensure reliable operation even in demanding workshop environments.
