Solid carbide end mill with AlTiN coating, Z3 geometry, 35° helix and flat center cutting end, d1= 16 mm L1= 45 mm L= 100 mm. The three-flute design increases edge support and feed capability compared with Z2 tools, while maintaining good stability for slots, pockets, shoulder milling, face milling and finishing of vertical walls. The AlTiN coating is intended for machining operations with high thermal load.
This AlTiN coated solid carbide end mill with Z3 three-flute geometry and 35° helix is designed for precision milling on CNC machining centres, automatic machines and conventional machine tools. The dimensional configuration is d1= 16 mm L1= 45 mm L= 100 mm. Compared with a two-flute cutter, the three-flute layout provides an additional cutting edge, higher edge support and improved feed capability, while preserving controlled chip evacuation when the radial engagement, axial depth and material are correctly selected. The flat center cutting end allows frontal machining, flat-bottom pocketing and face operations, while the peripheral cutting edges support shoulder milling, contouring and finishing of vertical walls with good geometric control. This configuration is useful when dimensional accuracy, stable surface finish and repeatability are required in mechanical workshops, precision metalworking, automotive production, mould making and maintenance departments. The AlTiN coating is intended for machining operations with high thermal load. Its aluminium titanium nitride structure promotes a protective aluminium oxide barrier in the cutting zone, improving oxidation resistance and reducing abrasive and adhesive wear. It is suitable for alloy steels, construction steels, tool steels, stainless steels, cast iron and hardened steels, especially in high speed cutting, dry machining, semi-dry machining or applications with limited coolant. It is generally not the preferred choice for aluminium and highly adhesive non-ferrous alloys, where polished geometries or dedicated coatings are more appropriate. For reliable results, use rigid machines, accurate collet chucks or shrink-fit holders, reduce runout, limit excessive overhang and adapt cutting speed, feed per tooth, radial engagement and axial depth to the machine power and workpiece clamping. Correct parameter setting helps reduce vibration, form errors, dimensional deviations, premature edge wear and surface defects, improving tool life and process stability.
