Extended-stroke tap holders (made in Italy) feature hardened and precision-ground steel bodies with a compensating spring mechanism, delivering superior threading accuracy and tool life in deep-hole applications and tough materials across lathe, CNC, and drilling operations.

Extended stroke extraction tap holders are specialized tools used in machining operations, particularly for threading operations. These devices are designed to provide a longer stroke during the extraction phase of the tap, facilitating its disengagement from the workpiece and reducing the risk of breakage or premature wear of the cutting edge. Their design allows for a longer movement than traditional tap holders, making them particularly suitable for deep threads or difficult-to-machine materials, such as high-strength steels or aluminum alloys. Thanks to optimized extraction mechanisms, they improve machining efficiency and tool life. These tap holders are widely used in computer numerical control (CNC) machines, where precision and repeatability are essential, but they are also used in manual applications where greater reliability is required. Their ability to reduce chip build-up and prevent seizure makes them an advantageous choice in demanding production environments.

The use of tap holders requires a specific procedure to ensure precise and long-lasting results. During the machining phase, the tap is inserted into the tool holder, which is then mounted on a spindle or on a manual tool. During threading, the increased stroke system comes into action in the reverse phase: while a traditional tap holder could cause excessive tension during extraction, this type of tool absorbs part of the effort, allowing the tap to exit the hole smoothly and without harmful vibrations.

In CNC machines, the movement is managed automatically by the program, which regulates speed and depth of pass, while in manual machining the operator must pay attention to maintaining correct alignment to avoid breakages. The use of adequate lubricants is recommended to improve sliding and reduce wear.

These tools are particularly suitable for:

Turn operators and millers working on complex materials (e.g. hardened steels, cast irons, superalloys).

Mechanical workshops specializing in precision production, where repeatability is essential.

Industrial production departments that use CNC machines and require reliable tools for extended machining cycles.

Thanks to their versatility and resistance, extended stroke tap holders have become a standard in many areas of precision engineering, offering a significant advantage in terms of quality and efficiency compared to traditional solutions.
