The floating reamer holder with ER collet DIN 6499/B is a device that compensates for alignment errors between the machine spindle and the workpiece through a ball oscillation mechanism. It is used for rigid tapping operations on lathes and CNC machining centers. Thanks to a spring, the tool maintains a centered position and the spring pressure is adjustable via a screw. The tool can freely oscillate to accommodate misalignments and imperfections of the workpiece. The device also offers variable radial movement relative to the center.

The floating boring head with ER collet DIN 6499/B is an advanced device designed to compensate for misalignments between the machine spindle and the workpiece, thanks to an oscillation mechanism on a double cage of axial bearings. This system is particularly useful for rigid tapping operations on single-spindle, multi-spindle lathes, and CNC machining centers, where precision and flexibility are crucial for achieving high-quality results. Additionally, these devices are widely used in boring operations, where the ability to compensate for misalignments is essential to ensure holes with tight tolerances and perfectly finished surfaces.

The operation of the floating boring head is based on a mechanical system that includes a spring (1), which keeps the tool centered, ensuring stability and precision during machining. The spring pressure can be adjusted using an adjustment screw (2), which allows for modifying the sensitivity of the tool's radial movement. This adjustment enables the device to adapt to specific machining needs, whether for hard materials like tempered steel or softer materials like aluminum. The ability to adjust the spring pressure makes the system extremely versatile and suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

Features:

Measure Radial stroke R Nut
ER11 1 External thread with holes / Hexagonal external thread
ER16 1 Hexagonal

To allow the tool to oscillate freely and compensate for any imperfections or misalignments in the workpiece, the pack can be loosened by approximately 0.1-0.2 mm using a collar (3). This oscillatory movement, indicated by the letter G, allows the tool to dynamically adapt to variations during machining, improving the system's flexibility and precision. Furthermore, the device offers a radial movement capability that is more or less extensive relative to the center (R), further increasing its versatility and adaptability to different working conditions.

Floating boring heads are made from certified high-alloy steel, subjected to heat treatments such as hardening and tempering, ensuring remarkable wear resistance and long-lasting durability. The surfaces are fully ground and treated with special finishes to improve corrosion resistance and reduce friction, maintaining high performance even under intensive working conditions. The entire production cycle is carried out in Italian facilities using high-precision machine tools, with each phase rigorously quality-controlled to ensure that every device meets the highest standards.

The floating boring head is adjusted with minimal axial play, and the floating action is provided by radial oscillation. To keep the boring tool perfectly centered, the tool holder is equipped with a self-centering pin pushed by an adjustable spring based on the size of the mounted boring tool. This feature allows the system to adapt to different tool sizes, ensuring maximum precision and stability during machining. The radial movement capability is approximately ±1 mm from the center, allowing for a wide range of movements to adapt to various machining needs, even in particularly complex contexts.
