The floating ER reamer holder with Morse taper MT is designed for lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining centers. Ideal for hard reaming and tapping, it offers high precision and compensates for misalignments between the spindle and the workpiece. The floating mechanism, made possible by ball oscillation, allows for lateral movement that improves machining even with small discrepancies. It includes a mechanical system with a spring and adjustment screw, ensuring stability and precision in operations.

ER floating boring heads with Morse taper shanks are precision accessories designed for use in a wide range of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, CNC machining centers, drills, and transfer machines. These devices are particularly suitable for boring and rigid tapping operations, where a high degree of precision and the ability to compensate for misalignments between machine spindles and workpieces are required. Their versatility, combined with the ER system and Morse taper shank, makes them suitable for a wide range of industrial and artisanal applications, ensuring excellent performance in high-intensity production environments.

One of the most significant features of these boring heads is their floating capability, made possible by oscillation on a double cage of axial bearings. This mechanism allows for slight lateral movement, compensating for alignment errors and ensuring precise machining even in the presence of minor discrepancies between tools and workpieces. The floating action is particularly useful in boring operations, where even minimal misalignments can compromise the quality of the work. Additionally, these devices can be used for rigid tapping on single-spindle, multi-spindle lathes, and CNC machining centers, thanks to their stability and precision, which minimize the risk of tool breakage or defects in the workpiece.

The operation of the boring heads is regulated by an advanced mechanical system that includes a spring (1) and an adjustment screw (2). The spring keeps the tool centered, while the screw allows for adjusting the spring pressure, making the radial movement of the tool more or less sensitive. This enables the devices to adapt to different machining needs, whether for hard materials like tempered steel or softer materials like aluminum. Furthermore, by loosening the pack by approximately 0.1 - 0.2 mm using the collars (3), the tool gains the ability to oscillate, further enhancing flexibility and precision during operations. This controlled oscillation is crucial for achieving high-quality results, especially in machining operations requiring tight tolerances.

The floating boring heads are made from certified high-alloy steel, subjected to heat treatments such as hardening and tempering, ensuring remarkable wear resistance and long-lasting durability. The surfaces are fully ground and often treated with special finishes to improve corrosion resistance and reduce friction, maintaining high performance even under intensive working conditions. The entire production cycle is carried out in Italian facilities using high-precision machine tools, with each phase rigorously quality-controlled to ensure that every device meets the highest standards.

The floating boring head is adjusted with minimal axial play, and the floating action is provided by radial oscillation. To keep the boring tool perfectly centered, the tool holder is equipped with a self-centering pin pushed by an adjustable spring based on the size of the mounted boring tool. This feature allows the system to adapt to different tool sizes, ensuring maximum precision and stability during machining. The radial movement capability is approximately ±1 mm from the center, allowing for a wide range of movements to adapt to various machining needs, even in particularly complex contexts.
