SCHUNK TRIBOS-S HSK-A32 polygonal toolholders for ultra-precision machining and HSC applications. Backlash-free clamping through elastic deformation with run-out < 0.003 mm. Compatible with h6 shank tools, balanced G2.5 at 25,000 rpm and capable of speeds up to 85,000 rpm. Support coolant supply up to 100 bar and axial length adjustment for maximum accuracy.

SCHUNK TRIBOS-S HSK-A32 polygonal toolholders are designed for ultra-precision machining and high-speed applications where clamping stability and run-out accuracy are critical. The systems use a clamping technology without mechanical moving parts, based on controlled elastic deformation of the internal polygonal bore.

During clamping, using dedicated TRIBOS SVP devices, the polygonal profile is temporarily deformed into a circular shape, allowing tool insertion. Once the pressure is released, the holders return to their original geometry, ensuring uniform, backlash-free clamping with optimal force distribution.

This principle eliminates cumulative tolerances typical of collet systems, achieving run-out accuracy below 0.003 mm at 2.5 x D with high repeatability. The toolholders are designed for tools with h6 shank tolerance, ensuring reliable torque transmission even under demanding conditions.

Their extremely slim design allows machining in hard-to-reach areas, increasing operational flexibility. The symmetrical and balanced design (G2.5 at 25,000 rpm) enables high-speed applications up to 85,000 rpm, ensuring excellent dynamic stability and surface quality.

The toolholders feature axial length adjustment screws with 10 mm travel for precise presetting and reduced setup times. They are also compatible with reduction sleeves to extend the clamping range.

They support coolant supply up to 100 bar, either peripheral or internal, improving chip evacuation and tool life. The HSK-A32 interface ensures high rigidity and precision connection to the machine spindle.

TRIBOS-S HSK-A 32 – Technology and operating principle

Product description Extremely slim polygonal toolholders. Precision for machining conditions in extremely confined spaces. When some workpiece areas are very difficult to reach or common clamping systems reach their limits, the solution is represented by TRIBOS-S polygonal clamping holders
with their extremely slim structure.Maximum constant concentricity and repeatability accuracy < 0.003 mm ensure even more uniform cutting edge action, improving tool life by more than four times.
Technology TRIBOS SVP actuation devices deform the polygonal shape of the toolholder until it becomes circular, making tool insertion possible.
When pressure is released, the toolholder returns to its original polygonal shape, securely and precisely locking the inserted tool shank.

Step 1 Polygonal clamping diameter – By means of TRIBOS SVP devices and the application of the respective actuation pressure, the polygonal clamping diameter of the toolholder deforms and becomes circular.
Step 2 The polygonal clamping diameter takes on a circular shape through actuation pressure, thus facilitating insertion of the tool shank.
Step 3 Insertion of the tool shank – When the pressure exerted on the clamping diameter is reduced, it resumes its original polygonal shape.
Step 4 Tool clamped – The inserted tool shank is locked reliably with high repeatability accuracy.
