They are used to advance the material during bar operations on single-spindle and multi-spindle lathes, and they also handle the removal of the bar remnant.

What is a lathe feed finger collet?
It is a metal component made of special steel, very similar to a bushing with an internal diameter equal to the bar to be machined. It is cut along the axis, and after undergoing a special heat treatment, the cuts are closed, forming a flower shape with closed petals, making their opening elastic during the insertion of the bar to be machined.

How does a lathe bar pusher collet for a feeder work?
The bar pusher collets of a feeder are designed to advance the bar every time the lathe has produced a piece and is ready to start a new work cycle. The bar pusher collets for a feeder are housed on a lance. The end of the bar is inserted frontally into the collet, which elastically holds it by opening the petals. In this way, the collet holds the bar during rotation, retains the remnant when the bar is finished, allowing it to be extracted from the machine spindle and discharged into a container outside the machine, and also performs the bar advancement function, hence the name bar pusher.

They have different external diameters, which usually correspond to the maximum bar passage variant indicated by the manufacturer of the automatic bar feeder.
