Winches - Hoists

A winch is a device used to exert high tensile forces by means of ropes, metal or textile cables, belts and sometimes chains to lift or drag more or less heavy loads. The winch is an excellent compressor to be able to lift and drag heavy loads easily and solve many problems in the industrial and construction fields to reduce the worker's effort as much as possible.

The rope winch is a tool consisting of levers and ropes (usually steel), which is used to lift and anchor loads vertically and drag them horizontally. The winch is usually placed in the vicinity of the load's destination.

The electric winch differs from the rope winch in that the lifting and lowering of the load is done using an electric motor and sometimes a pulley that allows heavier loads to be lifted. If the load needs to be moved a few metres from where the winch is positioned, it is advisable to use a winch jib support on which to mount the winch so that the load and winch can be moved along the arm of the jib support.

A hoist is a hand- or motor-driven device, consisting of a system of pulleys connected by ropes or chains, designed to lift loads by applying a force less than the weight of the load itself.
