The 0127036 screw engages the gib seat via its turned head and, by acting on the thread, sets the clearance of the gib-to-axial-slide mating.
This screw is installed on the axial slides in positions 1-2-4-5 of the Gildemeister multi-spindle automatic lathe models AS16, AS20, GS20, GM20, GM20AC.
Correct gib adjustment has a major impact on the service life of the slide-to-support coupling. When properly adjusted, it also affects dimensional accuracy as well as the geometric and form tolerances of the produced parts.

The 0127036 screw is the adjustment element for the gib installed on the axial slide. Through its turned head, the screw engages the gib seat and, by acting on the thread, allows the mating clearance between the gib and the slide to be set. Its primary function is to ensure the correct preload and continuous contact on the slideways, keeping the axial slide stable, smooth-running and kinematically repeatable even under load.

The 0127036 screw is installed on the axial slides pos. 1-2-4-5 of the Gildemeister multi-spindle automatic lathe models AS16, AS20, GS20, GM20, GM20AC. The gib acts as a guiding and compensating element, correcting play caused by machining, settling and wear, and maintaining controlled contact between the slide and the guide surfaces. Correct gib adjustment directly affects the service life of the slide-to-way coupling by reducing localized wear and limiting the risk of seizure; at the same time, it influences axial positioning accuracy and the stability of the dimensional, geometric and form tolerances of the produced parts, and it improves surface finish by reducing scoring and drag marks.

Vibrations and process instability during machining can also be caused by an incorrect adjustment of the 0127036 screw, because axial guide clearance changes significantly with the gib position. If the adjustment leaves excessive clearance, the slide may generate micro-movements and resonance under load, resulting in poorer surface finish, difficulty in holding size and repeatability, and increased wear of the guideways. Conversely, if the screw is tightened excessively, friction increases and sliding can become irregular due to stick-slip effects, with possible heating, accelerated wear and risk of seizure; in these conditions, “jerky” vibration may appear, along with abnormal loads and loss of motion regularity.

During maintenance, the adjustment must be carried out progressively, ensuring uniform smooth travel over the full stroke, no perceptible play under load and no tight spots or dragging, with correct lubrication and a stable oil film, because the gib must operate with clean, properly lubricated guide surfaces. Proper adjustment of the 0127036 screw is therefore crucial for both accuracy and machine reliability, as it acts on the point where clearances are generated or eliminated and, consequently, where axial-slide vibrations originate.
